Gooey Labneh Dip

This delicious and super simple middle eastern appetizer will impress everyone and is therefore perfect to serve at a little dinner gathering. It looks amazing, it tastes delicious and most of all, it has a super great, gooey texture, which is ideal to scoop up with some toasted naan bread. This dish will leave you wanting more, or your guests wanting to recreate it themselves. Always a hit!



Gooey Labneh Dip


Ingredients


  • 500g labneh

  • 2 tbsp za'atar spices

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • sea salt

  • 1 clove of garlic, minced

  • 50g walnuts

  • 8-10 mint leaves

  • 100g pomegranate seeds

  • 2 bulbs of spring onions, chopped

  • 4 pieces of garlic naan bread, sliced


Methods


  1. In a medium bowl, combine the labneh, za'atar spices, olive oil, garlic and a pinch of sea salt.

  2. Roast the walnuts in a small frying pan (dry, without oil), and add them to the labneh mixture.

  3. Chop about 5 leaves of fresh mint and also add to the labneh mixture.

  4. Spread out over a big plate. Over top, crack some salt, drizzle some olive oil and add some za'atar spices.

  5. Garnish with pomegranate seeds and chopped spring onion.

  6. Serve with toasted slices of naan bread.





Wine pairing


This entree goes very well with almost any white wine. However, if you would like to make the pairing more interesting, you could go for a light, fruity red, for example a young Merlot that has NOT had any barrel ageing.
